Autograph letter signed from Dora Solly to [a lecturer in music] [manuscript], [ca. 1838] June 5.

Gives her father, the Rev. T. Rackett's opinion that Smith composed some additional songs for The tempest and did not reset the existing ones as he had said. Garrick's character is not shewn in its true light in Mr. Boaden's edition of his letters. Her father learnt music of Christopher Smith and was well acquainted with Beard. She goes on to say that among the music of her mistress Signorina Inglesina Davies, which had come into her possession at her death, was a cantata composed by Hasse and written by Metastasio for herself and her sister [Cecilia and Marianne Davies] to perform before the Empress Maria Theresa with an accompanime for the armonica [1769], and an instrument invented by Franklin for the elder Miss Davies.
